Altayeb Morhal (Kordofán del Norte, 1993) es un fotógrafo, videógrafo y narrador de historias que muestran el espíritu de resiliencia de su país, particularmente a través de documentar y evocar las protestas del año 2021, que tuvieron lugar tras ser disuelto el comité de transición democrática por un golpe de Estado a manos del Ejército al mando de Al Burhan, autoproclamado líder de Sudán tras el mismo y actual cabeza de uno de los bandos enfrentados en la guerra iniciada en abril de 2023.
Inspirándose en su ascendencia familiar nómada adoptó el nombre de “Morhal” [nómada], palabra que evoca las migraciones de sus ancestros y la tradición oral trasmitida por las ancianas, que cuentan historias de tierras lejanas. Esta profunda conexión con el territorio y la historia da pistas sobre su visión artística, que le ha permitido insuflar un estilo documental cargado de autenticidad y profundidad cultural a sus narrativas.
Ha colaborado con MFS, One World Media, Sudan HUB en el Instituto Goethe en Nairobi, ciudad en la que vive actualmente. Su obra se ha expuesto en The Circle Gallery, el Instituto de Estudios para la Paz en Oslo y en One World Media en Londres.
Altayeb continúa dando voz a aquellas historias en la sombra elaborando narrativas que transcienden las fronteras, invitando a los espectadores a conectar con las dificultades y los logros de la experiencia humana y creando puentes entre el pasado y el presente, la tradición y la modernidad.

Altayeb Morhal (North Kordofan, 1993) is a photographer, videographer, and storyteller who creates stories that showcase his country’s spirit of resilience, particularly through documenting and evoking the 2021 protests, which took place after the Democratic Transition Committee was dissolved in a coup d’état by the army under the command of Al Burhan, the self-proclaimed leader of Sudan and current head of one of the sides in the war that began in April 2023.
Inspired by his nomadic family ancestry, he adopted the name “Morhal” [nomad], a word that evokes the migrations of his ancestors and the oral tradition passed down by elderly women, who tell stories of distant lands. This deep connection with the land and history provides insight into his artistic vision, which has allowed him to infuse his narratives with a documentary style steeped in authenticity and cultural depth. He has collaborated with MFS, One World Media, and Sudan HUB at the Goethe Institute in Nairobi, where he currently resides. His work has been exhibited at The Circle Gallery, the Oslo Institute for Peace Studies, and One World Media in London.
Altayeb continues to give voice to those hidden stories by crafting narratives that transcend borders, inviting viewers to connect with the hardships and triumphs of the human experience, and building bridges between past and present, tradition and modernity.
