El primer conjunto de obras, que vio por primera vez la luz dentro de Galería Sura con una gran acogida de público entre noviembre del 2024 y, tras dos prórrogas, febrero del 2025, evo­luciona para convertirse en la actual muestra itinerante, mostrando antiguas y nuevas obras de las artistas.

La obra de ambas artistas evoluciona tras saberse al fin vistas por un público que ha entrado en diálogo con ellas. La personalidad del lenguaje de Mahnaz y Somayeh permanece, pero da un paso más allá hacia un lirismo más atrevido y desafiante. Adquieren más complejidad las puestas en escena, creándose un realismo mágico a la afgana en el que lo cotidiano de su vida se ve reflejado en una realidad alterada que carga de verosimilitud una atmósfera vital inaceptable. Se rompe el curso lógico del tiempo al verse condenadas a habitar un presente lleno de viejas prohibiciones y vestigios de un tiempo pasado mejor que parece no haber existido nunca, pero que permanece en sus almas. Es este presente un tiempo para la alienación de la mujer, la afgana, que las artistas convierten en un ser casi mitológico que cae para después renacer cada día, con cada fotografía, con cada baile, con cada canción y con cada poesía.

La exposición está en tour gracias a Amnistía Internacional España y al Departamento de Juventud del Ayuntamiento de Madrid.

The first set of works, which first appeared at Galería Sura to a great public reception between November 2024 and, after two extensions, February 2025, has evolved to become the current traveling exhibition, showcasing old and new works by the artists.

The work of both artists evolves after finally being seen by an audience that has entered into dialogue with them. The personality of Mahnaz and Somayeh's language remains, but it takes a step further toward a more daring and challenging lyricism. The staging becomes more complex, creating an Afghan-style magical realism in which their everyday life is reflected in an altered reality that imbues an unacceptable atmosphere with verisimilitude. The logical course of time is disrupted as they find themselves condemned to inhabit a present filled with old prohibitions and vestiges of a better past that seems never to have existed, but that remains in their souls. This present is a time of alienation for women, the Afghan woman, whom the artists transform into an almost mythological being who falls and is then reborn every day, with every photograph, every dance, every song, and every poem.

The exhibition is on tour thanks to Amnesty International Spain and the Youth Department of the Madrid City Council.
