La espera liminal

El arte es ya el único lenguaje lícito que permanece en pie para hablar de Gaza y Palestina. El arte, y sobre todo aquel del que crea desde dentro, no puede desacreditarse como sí lo hace el relato político, preso de palabras huecas que nos convierten a todos en rehenes de una narrativa del poder propagandística e insoportable, aupada desde los medios.

Palestina es el paso más fuerte hacia el declive mundial sin retorno, del que siempre ha habido atisbos. El declive es ahora público, en un tiempo real que la lenta maquinaria de las soluciones no alcanza, pues camina en sentido opuesto, hacia la vergüenza que, por no manifestarse, no existe. Vergüenza disfrazada de condolencias ante un atril sin hoja de ruta, sin principios.

Moayed Abu Ammouna nos traslada al epicentro del olvido y de la supervivencia para mostrárnoslos con el poderoso paliativo de lo sensorial, lo psicológico y lo inmersivo, a través de imágenes que se perciben en los límites de la existencia y la desaparición, del dolor y la resignación, de la fuerza, la derrota y el exterminio. El fotógrafo lanza un mensaje al mundo como una cometa tirada al aire que, aunque no explosiona, tampoco es ingenua, pues nos impone la reflexión y la encarnación en el otro como si no lo fuera, como si fuéramos a convertirnos en él, tarde o temprano, como consecuencia de la inacción.

La muestra monográfica LA ESPERA LIMINAL se compone de 33 fotografías realizadas por el artista entre octubre de 2023 y enero de 2026 y podrá visitarse en la galería Sura de Madrid (C/ Arganda, 35, espacio compartido con la librería Balqís) hasta el 25 de abril.

Art is now the only legitimate language left standing to speak of Gaza and Palestine. Art —and especially that created from within— cannot be discredited as the political narrative is, trapped in empty words that make us all hostages to an unbearable, propagandistic narrative of power, amplified by the media.

Palestine is the most significant step toward a global decline with no return, glimpses of which have always existed. The decline is now public, unfolding in real time that the slow machinery of solutions cannot keep up with, as it moves in the opposite direction — toward a shame that, because it remains unspoken, does not exist. Shame disguised as condolences before a lectern without a roadmap, without principles.

Moayed Abu Ammouna transports us to the epicenter of oblivion and survival to reveal them to us through the powerful palliative of the sensory, the psychological, and the immersive, via images perceived at the limits of existence and disappearance, of pain and resignation, of strength, defeat, and extermination. The photographer sends a message to the world like a kite thrown into the air that, though it does not explode, is by no means naive, for it compels us to reflect and to embody the other as if we were not ourselves, as if we were to become them, sooner or later, as a consequence of inaction.

The solo exhibition THE LIMINAL WAIT consists of 33 photographs taken by the artist between October 2023 and January 2026 and will be on view at Galería Sura in Madrid (C/ Arganda, 35, a space shared with the Balqís bookstore) until April 25.
